I Am Not Causing Any Trouble....

Lucy loves being outside. I shut the leash in the door and let her go out and potty, socialize with people who come by and just lay in the sun. In this picture, there was a gorgeous cardinal in the tree, singing and Lucy was looking up at it with the sun coming through the branches. She takes biscuits out and buries them under the bush. We have a troublesome upstairs neighbor, who is quite loud. Because I asked her to turn her music down we are at war. She told management that Lucy held her hostage on her front porch and wouldn't let her out. She also said Lucy tried to bite her! Mgnt came to see if her lead reaches her step when it is shut in the door and it is not even close. Management told me to just keep Lucy away from the lady. She then laughed because Bassets are the calmest dogs, which is why they are so good with kids. You could kick her and she would not bite you. Thankfully the lady moves out June 30th. What a hoot.

Tiny Bubbles

Lucy is getting better at bath time. She lets me put her in the tub, and stands very still while I wash her. When it is time to dry off, we have a problem. For some reason, she won't let me dry her off anymore. I put towels in the dryer, run and get them, and cover her up so she won't get cold. She won't hear of it anymore. So Lucy walked around soaking wet, shaking all over everything for about 2 hrs. In this picture she is resting. She looks sad but she isn't. She drank water out of the gutter outside in the rain this morning, pulled bark off of fire wood mommy was cutting, and brings me her food dish when she is hungry. We also play this new game where she curls up by my head and stares at me. We then close our eyes and if I open mine and catch her looking at me, I quickly kiss her snout. If she catches me, she jams her wet puppy nose into my cheek (and sometimes my eye if she is not careful.) It is a fun game. Sometimes I forget that she is a dog. She is like a person, so full of games and a fun sense of adventure. She has been barking again. She barks to protect me from the vacuum, the military planes, mommy's chainsaw. She is so funny. I wish she would stay this age forever. June 7th, she will be one year old already.

Oh Won't You Come Out And Play With Me?

Lucy likes Timmie but Timmie is not at all thrilled with Lucy. Lucy brings balls and bones to Timmie by the baby gate, pushing them through to her. You can tell her tail is wagging, she gets so excited when she sees Timmie. Timmie is getting older and one swipe by Lucy knocks her over. I am sad they can not be together. Lucy got her microchip and it did not phase her one bit. She has had no accidents in the house either. She has started barking again, which she has to stop. I will look for her bark collar today to remind her it is not acceptable. We have gone out to Belleville a couple times and she runs off her leash. She loves it! She buried her first biscuit outside at Mommy's and it was so cute. Her nose was all covered in dirt. I sprayed her with the hose daddy was using to wash the porch and she ran and played in the water. Mommy fills her pockets with Honey Nut Cherrios for her and Lucy likes that. It is really fun to watch her run free. She helped Mommy put grass cloth down and rocks down around a rose bush, and carried sticks too. She took the sticks the wrong way, and off of the pile but still, she tried. She weighed in at 36.8lbs at her vet visit. She feels as heavy as a small automobile when she runs and jumps on you. She is a solid dog.
