Jumping Chipmunks!

Lucy went to Belleville to play with our mother while I went to see a movie with Daddy. She chased a chipmunk all the way across the yard and mommy said he was soaring through the air to get away from her. The chipmunk dove into a hole by a tree. Lucy started to diggity-dig at the hole to get the chipmunk but the critter had come out the other side of the tree and was standing up watching Lucy dig. Mommy said she was laughing really hard and that it was just like a cartoon. Lucy is going through her "terrible two's" at one I think. She is acting up really badly, barking, and dragging things that are not hers around the house, and she bit my finger the other day (which is my fault, as I should not have put it in her mouth but I was trying to get a bottle cap from her.) In this picture, she is helping me make the bed and if you look close you can see her fang tooth. That is why I like the picture so much! A friend at work has a dog that is 2 years old and on Wednesday I am taking Lucy over to have a play date in his backyard, which is fenced so she can be off her leash. That dog is twice her size so I hope they can get along and be friends. Lucy needs a good doggie friend to play with!

Lucy's Collar Crisis!

This past week, I have run into a terrible collar crisis. I had Lucy outside with her leash shut in the door. When I went to let her in, I found her there with her collar in her mouth, and the neighbor guy telling me that she broke her collar off. Luckily she did not run away, but just came home, with her collar in tow. That tone collar, that you set a tone off to distract her when she does naughty things, like chew the carpet, was expensive. A guy at work put it onto a new collar to go around her neck. THEN one of the screws to get the batteries changed was stripped and a different mechanic had to put it in a vice and use an electric drill to get it out. Then Lucy has started barking again. Loud barks for no reason that I can see. I could not get the battery in straight in her bark collar. I finally figured that out too. We are back in the game, but let me tell you, I lost control of my house for a couple days! Lucy does her tricks like a pro now. We are working on her ringing a big bell that hangs on the door knob at the front door to tell me she has to potty outside.
